Arthur – history repeats itself :

2004 was a very productive year for Extremis, as not only Donuts and Qrater were presented to the world, but Arthur also saw the light of day. After the intimacy provided by the Picnik table, time had come to create a table symbolic of hospitality. A table seating a large number of people, which would also encourage conversation between all table-companions. A round table was an obvious choice. After all, wasn't equality between table-companions the reason why King Arthur too chose this shape?

Perfect example of 'form follows function' :

More or less 2.5 meters, that seems to be the maximum distance between two people for them to have a normal conservation. That is why Dirk Wynants has limited Arthur's diameter to that distance (2.40 m to be precise) – allowing the largest Arthur version to seat up to 12 people.

Not only Arthur's size, but also its design are perfect examples of the 'form follows function' principle. By making optimum use of the High Pressure Laminate, you obtain the typical shape of the legs and the tabletop. That is if you want to make sure that one person can carry the table anywhere he wants (including up the stairs in a block of flats). Arthur comes in portable 25 kg packs. Once again Extremis has succeeded in combining great design with a minimal impact on the environment.
