Alberto Meda

Born in Tremezzina (Como) in 1945. 

Master in Mechanical Engineering at Politecnico of Milan in 1969. From 1973 to 1979 technical manager of Kartell, in charge of the development of furniture projects and plastic laboratory equipments.

Since 1979 industrial designer for various companies: Alfa Romeo Auto, Alias, Alessi, Arabia-Finland ,Cinelli, Colombo design, Brevetti Gaggia, JcDecaux, Ideal Standard, Luceplan, Legrand, MandarinaDuck, Omron Japan, Philips, Olivetti, Vitra, Kohl. 

From 1983 to 1987 teaching and reserach at Domus Academy , in 1995 at Politecnico of Milan, since 2002 at IUAV in Venice. 

 
Member of Board of Designlabor Bremerhaven, Institut fur System-und Produktgestaltung. 
Several lectures in Chicago, in St.Louis at Washington University, Stockolm, Boisbuchet, Miami, San Paulo, Ulm , Istanbul, Toronto, Mexico, HongKong In 1989, 1994, 2008 "Compasso d'oro" with "Lola",“Metropoli”, “Mix “ lamps by Luceplan, in 2000 
 
Bundespreis Produktdesign with Meda chair by Vitra in 2005 “Hon Royal Designer for Industry” -Londra RSA, in 2007 INDEX award with Solar Bottle Since 1994 The Museum of Modern Art in New York, includes in its Design Collection "Light light " chair, "Soft light " , “Longframe” by Alias , and "On-Off "lamp by Luceplan. 
He works and lives in Milano
